    Work is Hard. Well...
It really isn't. Not when you want to be a comic book artist. It is, however, time-consuming. Very consuming. I'm lightboxing a six page set of Fantastic Four stuff right now, and man, my eyes hurt. I went through a bunch of my stuff today and pieced together a preliminary portfolio layout for the Chicago con next weekend. I am really hopeful that I can catch someone's eye and get some work. Even if it doesn't pay, I just want to do this. I have already decided that if I don't get any hits with this con, I am going to go into hiding for about six months and do a complete arc of a character and story I have beed toying with for a while. Then I take it to Image and see about some publishing goodness. I would rather have some Pub'd work done before I do that, but if I must I will. I really think that some of the stuff that I am working on is solid though, so I hope that I will at least turn a few heads. Boy, getting some work at Dark Horse would freakin' sweet. Or IDW. Or Ted, who publishes a comic on toilet paper to local homeless people. Whatever. I'm really just not sure about the whole process. Do they have spots set aside for stuff like this? Editors milling about a conference room stamping a giant red "Rejected" on people's heads? I'm completely clueless. A babe in yonder woods so to speak. Oh well. It will work out.

Oh yeah. And selling stuff on Ebay is way too fun. And profitable! 125 bucks in a few weeks just selling crap I had laying around the house. And I literally mean crap. Feces. I don't ask why they want it. ;) Actually, just worthless gaming swag I have accumulated over the years. Lots of old preorder specials and whatnot. People will buy anything. I purchased an 84 Peter Gabriel tour shirt for 4 dollars. I will also buy anything.

    Sunday, Sunday, Sunday.
Man, I need to get to work. I have decided to halt my current FF (Fantastic Four) submission project at 4 pages in order to try my hand at a few other characters before I hit the Wizard World. I will get them lightboxed and finished then move onto some other ones. I want to show that I have a breadth of skill, not just one significantly long project. I will need to get some covers finished as well. Whew. Lotsa work, but I want to do it!

I'm meeting my parents for lunch today and am pretty excited about it. Haven't seen them in a while.

A world of Malls, Music, and shapely cheese.
Good lord I HATE malls. I loathe the fact that my first post on my Live Journal is basically bitching about the crap job that I work for a discount I never use, but hey. At least I have my art. And good music. Because if this is the rest of my life, then I am going to give it to a needy kid from Africa. He can revel in the facade of American Splendor and the way too chubby chicks that wear way to revealing clothes as they traipse about a worthless hole of a mall. Ugh. Anyway.

I am going to BE A COMIC BOOK ARTIST. Yep. It's true. Tell your friends. As of right now, I am going to Chicago, the Windy City, and I am going to lay my art, nay, my heart, on the line and let editors rip it to shreds in the hopes that one of them will offer me a job as he sorts through the tatters. I'm excited and horrified simultaneously. Well, at least I can go see Joss Whedon talk about Serenity. And Kevin Smith talk about whatever the hell he is up to. He'll be funny regardless. I need to really get to work on the rest of my submission project, but hence the trouble. I have to go work at the freaking mall. The MALL. Ick, Ugh.
